jayfurrI'm home sick today, dealing with a painful sore throat and stuffy head and low fever. I don't like being sick and it's particularly inconvenient this week because I've got to travel tomorrow to Norfolk, Virginia for a couple of days for customer training. I've always been very lucky about managing to avoid being sick when I've got to go onsite to a customer and I'm hoping this week won't be one of the rare exceptions, because I'd still go unless I was at death's door, and feeling rotten the whole time you're supposed to be cheerful and perky isn't easy. I'm hoping that a day of taking things very easy and drinking a lot of healthy hot liquids will help, but you never know. This could turn into one of those colds that lasts for weeks. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that it won't.
This past weekend the 2008 Philadelphia Breast Cancer 3-Day took place. I haven't seen photos from it yet or read anything about it but I'm sure it went well. Anyway, that means that it's one year until the 2009 event, which will be held October 16-18, 2009. I've been sitting here in a sort of heap in front of my laptop at home, sipping hot tea and putting together my participant page for Philly. I suspect I was a bit long-winded but perhaps I'll make it a bit more brief when I feel better. I'll once again be walking with my friend from college, Sandy Bryant. Sandy hasn't registered yet but when she does you'll see her listed on my team page (http://www.the3day.org/goto/quicksteppers). A friend of Sandy's from State College, PA is also planning on joining us, and if there's anyone out there reading this who might be interested in taking part, let us know. The minimum fundraising amount in 2009 is $2,300, up $100 from this year.
