Absolutely no one cares about this besides me, but I weigh less right now than I've weighed at any point since I came back from my honeymoon in September of 1997.

I was hoping to get down to the magic number of 210 by the Breast Cancer 3-Day but didn't quite get there -- I was only 221 when it started and due to various factors (all the food they had for us to eat, all the water I retained, maybe even swelling from the walk) I came back weighing a bunch more, 226. I eventually sloughed off that extra weight and I'm now around 215. I'm within shouting distance of 210.

I wasn't sure if my home bathroom scale was accurate because analog dial scales in hotel workout rooms often showed me weighing as much as 10-15 pounds more than the digital scale we have at home in the bathroom. Furthermore, I was really beginning to wonder what my body fat percentage was, and finally, after some research, I bought a combination scale/body fat monitor that is well thought of, the Omrun HBF-500. Unlike handheld monitors or scales with the sensors built into the footrests, that model has you stand on two sensors and hold a handlebar-like thing with hand sensors as well so the sensing passes through your whole body and gives a number that should be pretty close to what you'd get if you had a pro measure your fat content with calipers.

We set it up Friday night and to my surprise, it absolutely confirmed the weight readings our other scale had been giving me. (Okay, it disagreed by a pound, but it didn't say what I'd feared, that our other scale was out of whack and that the scales in the hotel weight rooms were telling the truth.) But on the other hand, my body fat numbers were disturbing. They gave a list of ranges that were low, average, high, and very high, listed by sex and age and stuff, and Jeebus, I've got some work to do. 210 may be my current goal but I really need to also work on building some serious muscle and getting rid of a lot more fat.

So there's that as a personal goal.

Now, if this freakin' election was just over I could really be a happy camper. I am sick of the whole mess. Only a few more days, though, before the wait is over. (Unless, of course, it somehow mysteriously comes down to the razor-thin margins we've gotten used to in recent Presidential elections, in which case the court battles over the outcome could go on for months.)
