jayfurr: (3-Day)
Carole and I just received our crew assignment for the Boston Breast Cancer 3-Day in July. We'll be on Pit Stop Team #5 each day -- the last pit stop of the day. Our work will involve setting up the canopies and tables, moving large boxes of snacks and big multi-gallon containers of sports drink, and even doing the real glamorous work like replacing toilet paper in the portojons. Woot! Since our stop will be the last pit stop of the day each day, our stop will open the latest but remain open the longest as stragglers (the 3-Day name is 'The Caboose') at the end of the pack filter in. Should be fun, getting to cheer on the walkers and keep them hydrated and powered up. It'll also give Carole, who'll be walking with me in October in Philadelphia, a chance to see what walkers at the end of 17 miles of walking really look like. :)

It goes without saying that we'd be very grateful for your support. We both have to raise $2,300 to take part in the Philadelphia walk and we'd like to raise enough to defer the costs of feeding and supporting US in the Boston walk (around $200, I think they said) as well. We've both got good starts -- our online totals don't show $500 (each) more that will show up probably around late June when matching gift contributions from my employer are processed through.

The link to donate on my behalf is http://www.the3day.org/goto/jayfurr and the link to donate on Carole's behalf is http://www.the3day.org/goto/carole. I'm very grateful, by the way, to those of you who sponsored me last year. Taking part in the 2008 DC walk was one of the best things that ever happened to me.
