My gripe about that sort of altered food is the peppery or spicy additives to anything in a low- or no-fat version, like salad dressing. So I try to use less of the full-fat type instead. The last few years, along with trying for lower fat and higher fiber in general, I've been trying to eat fewer processed foods and less refined sugar. (Not always 100% successful, but I do make the effort.) One of my friends says you shouldn't eat a food product whose ingredients you can't pronounce, and another says not to eat a packaged food with more than 5 ingredients!
