Things You Never Knew About Your College Town

When I was a student at UGA in Athens, Georgia I found myself on occasion at a late-night diner on Hancock Street that I knew as "Herbie's". I idly looked it up today and found that it actually hadn't been "Herbie's" that long -- the Herbie I knew as the proprietor had only purchased the place in 1985. Prior to that, it had a rather interesting, if sordid, history under its previous owners, Blanche and Herbert Guest.
