Breast Cancer 3-Day

sandyinstep) made her $2,200 fundraising minimum the other day and as a result will be allowed to trudge sixty miles of the Washington, DC Breast Cancer 3-Day on October 3, 4, and 5.
However, our two fellow team members, folks you don't know (that I know of) are only halfway to their goals with two weeks left before the event. If they don't get to $2,200, they don't get to walk unless they make up the difference out of their own pockets.
If you were considering making a donation to sponsor either me or Sandy, and if you understand that the money all goes to the same destination anyway (Susan G. Komen For The Cure), we'd sure 'nuff appreciate you helping out one of our teammates.

And from that page you can click any team member's name and then make a donation. Sandy and I are both listed, as is Mark Cook, a team member who won't be walking due to a bad back, but the two folks who really need the donations are Heather Phillips and Jennifer Bartlett. They would both really, really appreciate your help; it'd be a major bummer to do extensive, tiring training for the walk, beg dozens if not hundreds of people for donations, and still not get to take part.
Sorry if I'm coming on too strong here -- but I would be disappointed beyond the point of rational thought if I'd spent six months spreading the word about breast cancer, trying to raise funds, walking endless training walks, and then didn't get to take part in the big event.
We hate to say "even $5 helps" because if you ask for $5, you get $5 a lot of the time and folks who try to raise $2,200 through $5 donations tend to have a very hard time of it. But at this point, I think it really does come down to "if you can only give a little, that's cool."
