One Week From Today

jayfurrOne week from today I'll be in DC, getting ready for the Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk. I'm on the first flight down from Vermont to DC in the morning on the assumption that the 6 am flight is least likely to be delayed and stuff.
The walk starts Friday morning at 7:00 and check-in begins at five-freakin'-thirty AM in the parking lot of the immense Potomac Mills Outlet Mall in suburban Virginia. We're going to be doing 22.5 miles the first day, camping near the Occuquan River, walking 22 more miles through Fairfax County, and returning to the original campsite for a second night, then getting bussed to Arlington to do a final 15 miles into the District, ending a few blocks north of the Mall/White House/Capitol/etcetera.
And the weather forecast?
RAIN!!
Yeah, I know, one week out you can't even remotely trust the weather forecast but it's always a cheery idea to contemplate walking sixty miles in wet socks. I guess I'll take plenty of extras and wear my waterproofed hiking boots.
(Wait: just checked. The 10-day now has a forecast of 'sunny' for next weekend. I'll check again in half an hour; it'll probably be forecasting oobleck.)
Anyway, I wanna thank y'all for your disturbingly generous donations. I was really stunned when y'all got me to the $2,200 goal so quickly and even more stunned when you got me all the way up to $3,580. I figured that the fund-raising was going to be the really, really hard part, but when you've got kind hearts and a really good cause, all sorts of miracles can happen.
