Apparently I'm the last to know about memes these days, but there's one that's been going around called "sum up your life in six words". See this site for more and a link to a book called "Not quite what I was planning", collecting many thousands of such.

I read about it this morning in USA Today, sitting at the breakfast buffet at my hotel before heading to the airport for my trip home from Kentucky to Vermont. I thought for a few minutes, as anyone would, what my six-word summary ought to be.

In the end, I figured I should just go with the single sentence that's probably been said to me more often than any other sentence of six words:

"Jay, just shut the hell up."
