So far, our raffle of three lovely, cuddly, and cute pink Breast Cancer Awareness bears from Vermont Teddy Bear has, um, fallen on very very deaf ears. No donations at all so far, other than self-donations Carole and I made. Admittedly, it *is* the beginning of the year and we're not walking 60 miles in the Tampa Bay Susan G. Komen 3-Day For The Cure until October, but hey. :)

These are the bears we're talking about:

Cute, eh? And they need a good home. We've got three of them right now, sitting in boxes tucked away in a closet, looking forward to when they get to sally forth into the world to meet their new mommies or daddies!

All we're asking is a $50 (or more) donation to the Susan G. Komen 3-Day For The Cure -- each $50 you donate gets you entered in the raffle that we'll hold at the end of January. If you donate $100, you get two raffle tickets, and so on:

You can donate toward my total here:

http://www.the3day.org/goto/jayfurr

Or toward Carole's total here:

http://www.the3day.org/goto/carole

Each donation is 100% deductible, goes toward an incredible cause (bringing hope for a cure to millions and millions of women around the world), and will touch the lives of people in ways you might not imagine.

I know that a lot of you out there have friends or family or co-workers who've recently been diagnosed wiith breast cancer, and consequently, you may wish to donate toward *their* fund-raising totals for various events they may be collecting toward. By all means: do. But if you had a spare $50 or $100 lying around looking for a life to save, we'd be very grateful for your donation.

You can read more about the four-star rating Komen earned as a result of the extremely high percentage of donated funds that go toward the organization's primary mission, instead of toward fund-raising, here:

And you can read more about the research grants and work they've been able to fund in the last 27 years here:

If you have questions about the 3-Day For The Cure, about the Komen organization, or about why Carole and I are walking 60 miles in three days in Tampa and serving as crew for the Boston walk in July, please let us know. Everyone deserves a lifetime -- and millions of women and men around the world need your help.
