Gambling with weight loss
Aug. 3rd, 2009 09:32 pmI was doing very well on weight loss, having gotten down to 210.5 pounds in May or so... and then I went on a long-term on-site training engagement AND came down with a horrible cold that lasted for a month. And it rained constantly every time I *was* home in Vermont. Translation: I got no exercise at all for close to six weeks. And felt miserable and tended to eat whatever made me feel better. When the smoke had cleared, I was back up to 224 pounds.
I've made a commitment contract on stickK to lose that weight again by the time the Philadelphia Breast Cancer 3-Day takes place in October. I've put up a $1000 forfeit that I lose if I don't make the goal -- and I lose $100 each time I don't enter my progress, as vetted by my referee (my wife, Carole) or if I don't lose 1.4 pounds a week. The money will go to the George W. Bush Presidential Library, so I've got a hell of an incentive to lose that weight.
If you would like to create a free stickK login so you can be my supporter (and/or hoot raucously at my progress from the sidelines), visit http://www.stickk.com, or click the link below.
No, this isn't a joke. If we don't post my progress or if I don't lose the weight, they'll automatically withdraw $100 from my bank account each week.

Date: 2009-08-06 06:00 am (UTC)No bread, no potato chips (which were the biggest culprits) - not
even corn chips. I even used rice pasta & rice crackers when I was
really feeling the craving. I lost about 10 pounds (I put about 5 back
on when I sprained my ankle because standing & cooking was a real
(literal!) pain, but I am still happy at 150 as opposed to 145.
