Breast cancer affects one in eight women during their lives. Breast cancer kills more women in the United States than any cancer except lung cancer. And while I generally enjoy going to Breast Cancer 3-Day meetings to hear the inspiring tales of how survivors are motivated to rise up and conquer the disease that almost claimed their lives, sometimes you hear stories that just tear you up inside, stories of the struggles that did NOT end well. Yes, it motivates me to work that much harder to raise funds when I hear those stories, it also tends to give me very very bad dreams for nights on end. :(

I know that not everyone can afford to donate large sums of money to everyone on their Facebook friends list who holds out a hat, but can you donate a small amount? Say, $8, or a multiple of $8, in recognition of that one in eight?

Please help make it possible for us to speak of breast cancer in the past tense. :(
